"Yes, words are useless! Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble! Too much of it, darling, too much!"
--Edna Mode, The Incredibles

Words, in this twisted neo millennium and in particular over this past year or two, have progressed far beyond the opinion of my favorite animated haute couture designer.

Note: By the term “words” I mean the individual units of supposed audible information leeching from what President Bush refers to as “our screens” and uttered by the full spectrum of infotainment currently available in the digital marketplace.

Words, as today’s leaders and opinion makers first utter them, not only vindicate Orwell’s prophesy by having an intention in complete opposition to their meaning they, oftentimes, with conscious malicious intent burrow deep into the weft of the media gestalt, the storyline or “record” as more feckless pseudo-journalistic gasbaggery often names it.
These word selections, often without factual merit, are powerfully reinforced by carefully selected, cropped and oftentimes enhanced images and sounds.
In the unregulated corporate telemarketplace such magnified word bubbles or "virals", imbedded at varying emotional depths within the media matrix, trigger echoes of the very same memory that embedded them in the first place when they purposely and randomly reappear on “our screens”.
These memory echoes, while reinforcing the original trigger, act as fence posts in the herding of accepted mass thought toward goals oftentimes in opposition to the self-interest of that same public consciousness.
While many private and public people today engage in hurling enhanced word bombs and visual elements through nascent internet video distributors, only large organizations, at this point, are really capable of strategically marketing the pre-tested concepts that become tomorrow’s digital reality, at least, barring further surveillance footage of President Bush buttering and eating dinner rolls.
So, relax fellow neo citizens and turn off your virally tainted screens.
Should our world end, do you really want minute by minute updates delivered by smiling TV faces?
