An element of pay to play in 43's Washington, according to this morning's Washington Post:
Five conservative nonprofit organizations, including one run by prominent Republican Grover Norquist, "appear to have perpetrated a fraud" on taxpayers by selling their clout to lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Senate investigators said in a report issued yesterday…Abramoff funneled money from his clients to the groups. In exchange, the groups, among other things, produced ostensibly independent newspaper op-ed columns or news releases that favored the clients' positions…[and were] generally available to carry out Mr. Abramoff's requests for help with his clients in exchange for cash payments".
So, I'm wondering if Mr. Abramoff got an "associate producer" credit for his "generally available" help in booking guests on the various cable and over-the-air talking head programs?
And, is it a stretch to imagine a talking head host-on-the-go accepting dinner, travel or cash in exchange for prime programming placement and on-air slobber?
